Hello Faithfull followers!
19 weeks (124 days!) Hallie and I will be starting the run portion of the IRONMAN!! OMG - that just seems crazy!!!
This weekend was an awesome experience for a number of different reason. 1st - Hallie has been telling me that I need to do a 1/2 as a good pacer for the ironman & because the last half i did was back in 2006 (pre-weightloss.) Back in 2006- Hallie and I did the half in October here in Evansville and I finished with a 13:28 mile per hour pace. However, I still didn't want to pay the money to do this half-when I knew I would be running saturday morning anyway. But, thanks to my 4:30am running friend Curt-his company had some extra entries-so I got to run for FREE! So- now i had to run. But I must say, I am glad I did!!
Not only did I PR (which was expected! ;-) but I was more than happy with my time.) I said I would be happy at a 10 minute pace - but I ended up finishing in 2:06 running at a 9:33 pace. I felt good- even after the down pour btwn mile 6-7.
I think Hallie did fantastic. For those of you that don't know, Hallie was hurting a couple weeks back, so she has been in and out of the doctors. She had new inserts for her shoes that she only got to practice with a couple of time. And, I know they rubbed blisters on her last run before the race. But, just like Hallie- she doesn't let new inserts or blisters stand in her way. She ran through the pain and finished 15 minutes faster than last year at 2:44.
The best part of the race was the friends standing along & at the finish line cheering. It is crazy how just seeing someone you know cheering you on- gives you that extra bust to keep pushing. So if you are on the edge about coming to watch the Ironman or not- I want you to know that Hallie and I NEED you! We couldn't do this race without your love and support.
So again thank you to those that cheered us on! And congrats to all those that did the 8k, 1/2 marathon, and the full marathon!
Until next time ;-)

Correction! I finished in 2:42.29!!! NOT 2:44!
