So I know it is rare to have back to back post- but this was post worthy!
I figured if you guys really want a glimpse into our lives/training - it must be posted.
Today Hallie and I went for a ride after school. We meet at USI and were planning to head out towards St. Phillips. We didn't have a route-we were just going to make it up as we went. Let's see - first of all - I wasn't feeling well. I was extremely bloated - and warned Hallie not to ride behind me because I had gas (hahaha - I can't believe i'm posting this.) We started riding - and I was STRUGGLING!! I ran, lifted, and swam this morning- so my legs were pretty tired. Well about 10 miles into the the ride - Hallie got stung by a bee and i was still complaining about feeling awful. At about mile 13 Hallie blew her FIRST tire. She has ridden over 2,000 miles and this is the first tire replacement. I was ahead of her-so she called to inform me that she busted a tire & I needed to come back and get her keys.
As I was turning around- I realized that was silly- since I had my own keys- so I called to let her know I was going to ride back and get my jeep. While trying to turn around and get back going - I crashed in the middle of the road a broke my areo bars & skinned up my left side :-( I tired picking up speed - but it hurt to pedal....so I did the unthink about. I stopped on the side of the road and took a squat! :-) Boy did i feel better- but I did my best to get back to USI as fast as I could -but those of you that know St. Phillips - those hills were killing. But I made it back to USI- packed up my bike - jumped in my jeep and headed back out to Nation Road to pick up Hallie. hahahahaha - I can laugh now - but i was cursing earlier.
Hallie is taking her bike in to get her first tire replaced! & I have superglued the base part of my areo bars - so we will see. Day 2 of April - not the best ride - but it could have been worse!!
If you think the hills of St. Phillips are bad just you wait till you see what the hills around Louisville are like. Keep up the hard work you 2.
ReplyDeleteFor all those who were worried about my bike, the tire has been replaced and fixed. Ready to try again!
